Joe's Home Seller Tip of the Week: Thinking About Moving This Summer? Start Getting Ready Now!

But it's only January! Right? The housing market gets busy in the summer? However, some things to take into consideration if you are planning on selling your home:

According to the Real Estate Information Network (REIN) statistical data (excluding new construction), for 2016 in Hampton Roads, the average time it takes to sell a home once it is listed in the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) is about 80+ days.

To move in June, you would probably want to get your property listed for sale by April. How long will it take you to get your house in showcase condition, photo-perfect, ready to list? That depends on your schedule; in some cases, it can take a month or two, or even longer. You can get ahead of the big summer rush, and make sure your home is ready to go when buyers are ready to buy.
