But it's only January! Right? The housing market gets busy in the summer? However, some things to take into consideration if you are planning on selling your home:
According to the Real Estate Information Network (REIN) statistical data (excluding new construction), for 2016 in Hampton Roads, the average time it takes to sell a home once it is listed in the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) is about 80+ days. To move in June, you would probably want to get your property listed for sale by April. How long will it take you to get your house in showcase condition, photo-perfect, ready to list? That depends on your schedule; in some cases, it can take a month or two, or even longer. You can get ahead of the big summer rush, and make sure your home is ready to go when buyers are ready to buy.
